Jana Sheena holds diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and a Masters degree in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RECBT).
Jana has for many years worked closely alongside plastic surgery consultants in Harley Street, notably helping their patients to maintain their desired post-operative results. Through the use of hypnotherapy, Jana has helped many patients to address unhealthy beliefs about their appearance and maximize their benefits of the surgery.
Jana also worked for two years as a trainee RECBT therapist at Westminster Drug Project in North London assisting clients with drug and/or alcohol addictions and as a clinical hypnotherapist at City Hypnosis, a busy clinic where she assisted many clients to tackle various addictions, anxiety, phobias, depression and psychosexual problems.
As well as her private practice, Jana has been working since 2009 as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and as a trainee RE-CBT therapist at The Royal Brompton hospital in Chelsea, where she specializes in pain control, depression, anxiety and anger management.
Jana also receives referrals from Anxiety UK which is committed to raising the awareness and understanding of anxiety disorders and helps with research. Anxiety UK works to relieve and support those living with anxiety disorders by providing information, support and understanding via an extensive range of services, including 1:1 therapy.
Jana will assist you in distinguishing between your unhealthy and healthy beliefs so that you can weigh their pros and cons. Unhealthy beliefs contribute, due to their rigidity, to various unhealthy negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, shame, hurt, unhealthy anger, jealousy and guilt – hence the focus of the therapy is to change your rigid perceptions, which will lead to more flexible thinking, and consequently to better emotional and behavioural outcomes.
The core philosophy of RE-CBT is that events don’t disturb us, but our beliefs about those events do. Therapy will help you negotiate more rational outcomes, and help prevent unhealthy negative emotions sabotaging your goals in life.
During the course of the therapy you will learn to create new more realistic as well as flexible beliefs via cognitive, behavioural, reading and other creative self-assignments. These will always be discussed and agreed towards the end of each session.
There will always be time to address any of your doubts and concerns regarding the techniques or any other matters discussed during the sessions.
You will simply learn to become your own therapist with a set of very useful and hands on techniques, which will become part of your everyday quest for self-improvement.
