Improving and Supporting your Health

Do you struggle with physical discomfort, phobias or unhealthy beliefs related to your health?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy doesn't claim ultimate healing of your body and mind, but it offers a no-nonsense view of your beliefs about health and a way to challenge those beliefs which are rigid and unhealthy. Many people struggle to accept an unwelcome diagnosis or a GP telling them that they should lose weight or stop smoking. Demands are primary unhealthy beliefs targeted by the CBT therapy as they promote all or nothing thinking, which can lead to unhealthy negative emotions such as depression, anxiety, guilt, hurt, jealousy, unhealthy anger and shame.

Jana supports her clients by helping them to change their philosophy regarding their health challenges so they can enjoy their life to their own individual potential, and to address their doubts about how their future may looks from their current perspective.

Jana has been helping her private clients and also patients at the Brompton Hospital in Chelsea, since 2009 to tackle following challenges:

  • Pain management - pre and post operative state, headaches caused by stress
  • Phobias - needle phobia, fear of bacteria, fear of anaesthetics etc.
  • Unhealthy negative emotions — anxieties, guilt, jealousy, anger, hurt, depression and shame
  • Stress management — workplace or domestic stress
  • Unhealthy habits – smoking, binge drinking and binge eating

TB, an accountant, from London shared her experience with CBT

"I have suffered from insomnia for many years and have tried numerous techniques and remedies without much success. A friend suggested I try CBT so I went ahead and arranged a series of appointments. I was more than a little sceptical at first, but was determined to give it a really good try. By the third session I was delighted to report to the therapist that I was now managing to get a good couple of hours of sleep most nights. It has been over two months since my first session and although I still have the odd bad night I now enjoy a better sleeping pattern than I have for many years. I know that I will have to continue using the CBT technique for some time yet, but at least I am on the right track."

N.H. patient of the Royal Brompton Hospital in London shared her experienced with CBT .

"I was initially very skeptical about the idea of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) but decided that I wouldn’t have lost anything by meeting Jana. At that time, I was feeling very angry about my health and the limitations that it put on me, and found it extremely difficult to even walk into the hospital, let alone attend appointments.
However, I have been pleasantly surprised at how CBT has helped me see things differently. I am now much calmer and less ‘angry’ when it comes to discussing my health and my family have commented on the fact that I appear to be much more accepting of what the doctors say.
I would say that sub-consciously, the CBT has helped me enormously. With Jana’s support I have been able to open my mind and look at things from lots of different angles, as well as recognising the impact unhelpful negative thoughts can have on the mind."

SP,  a patient of the Royal Brompton Hospital shared his experience with CBT&Hypnotherapy

"Jana, I would like to thank you very much for all you have done, I have found our sessions very beneficial. I feel the sessions have provided a calming positive outlook in relation to my illness. I do feel that through the self-hypnosis and CBT techniques I have picked up during the therapy I can maintain a healthy day to day experience. On the whole I am feeling positive about the illness and life in general at the moment."
